Manchester United goalkeeper David De Gea will only sign a new contract with the Red Devils on one condition according to various reports in the British media.
Manchester United have so far failed to secure his long-term future at the club.
Both parties have been in contract talks for the past few months without any sign of resolution.
His current contract was scheduled to expire at the end of this season but the Red Devils have activated the additional year clause to take him to 2020 at Old Trafford.
With his long-term future still uncertain, the Spaniard has been linked with European giants Paris Saint Germain (PSG) and Juventus.
The Times claim that David De Gea will only sign a new contract at the club if Manchester United offer him a lucrative salary that will make him the highest paid player at Old Trafford.
The 28-year-old shot stopper wants a weekly salary of £350,000 that would take him level with Alexis Sanchez.
Chilean forward Sanchez became the highest earner at Manchester United when he joined the Red Devils from Arsenal in a swap deal involving Armenian international star Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
De Gea has been the Red Devils’ best player for the last four years and only a few people will begrudge him for demanding a lucrative new contract to extend his stay at the club.
