Premier League giants Arsenal have emerged as favourites in the race to sign highly-rated AS Roma forward Cengiz Under ahead of the January transfer window.
This is according to reports coming out of Italy as per the Daily Mirror.
It was further revealed that Arsenal sent scouts to run the check on him at the weekend.
He was in Italian Serie A action for his AS Roma side in the 2-2 draw with rivals Inter Milan on Sunday evening and even managed to get on the scoresheet in the second half of the game.
A €50m bid is expected to be enough to prise the 21-year-old from the Stadio Olimpico when the upcoming transfer window opens at the start of the New Year.
Arsenal are keen on a move for the Turkish international player in a bid to secure a replacement for the injured Danny Welbeck.
His injury means that the Gunners have just Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexander Lacazette are the only recognised strikers in the team.
The England international star will be out of action until later in the New Year due to the serious ankle injury he sustained against Sporting in Lisbon in the Europa League last month.
