Impressive Chelsea midfielder Charlie Wakefield is reportedly on his way out of the Stamford Bridge having failed to breakthrough after eight years at the club
Charlie Wakefield is reported to be having a trial with EFL League One club Charlton Athletic with the view of completing a transfer in coming weeks when the transfer window eventually opens.
The 20-year-old featured for Charlton in their 4-0 humiliation by Crystal Palace U23 in the Professional Developmental League on Monday afternoon but the result is not expected to have any impact in his trial result.
With his contract with the West London side expected to expire at the end of the current campaign, it is important for Charlie Wakefield to find other alternatives knowing that the chances of being retained at the Stamford Bridge remain very slim.
He has only seen one of Chelsea’s game this season at the youth level which is obvious that he is not needed and would be asked to leave once the season ends.
Charlie Wakefield was snapped up by Chelsea at the U12 level and has since enjoyed loan spells outside the club on several occasions.
The Blues team are now more focus on the first team as they wish to land silverware this season with new manager Maurizio Sarri.
