Former Barcelona star Bernd Schuster has delivered a big verdict on forward Ousmane Dembele amidst transfer rumours linking him with a move away from the club.
Dembele has had to battle with injury problems and disciplinary issues since his multi-million pound move to Barcelona last year.
The exciting French player joined the Spanish La Liga champions during last summer’s transfer window after an initial fee of around €105m was agreed with German Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund for his services plus another €35m in add-ons.
He missed a large part of his debut season at Barcelona because of injury but his second campaign (current season) with the five-time European champions have been severely affected by disciplinary problems thereby leading to doubts about his long-term future at the club.
Bernd Schuster spoke about Dembele while he was on Onda Cero’s ‘El Transistor’ radio show.
According to him, Ousmane Dembele won’t live up to expectations in the colours of Barcelona.
The 21-year-old has been linked with several clubs in Europe especially the Premier League sides.
Dembele has been touted as a possible signing for English teams such as Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool.
Latest transfer reports claimed that the Gunners have made an enquiry for him.
