Frenjie de Jong

Manchester United have received a huge boost in the chase for highly-rated Ajax Amsterdam midfielder Frenkie De Jong ahead of the upcoming transfer window scheduled to start as from the 1st of January.

This is due to the recent statements credited to Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola.

The Manchester City boss revealed that the Citizens won’t be signing any player when the mid-season transfer window reopens in the next few weeks.

Manchester United and city rivals Manchester City are two of the three clubs that have been heavily linked with a move for the Dutch international star.

With Manchester City out of the equation, Manchester United have moved a step closer in the tussle to sign Frenkie De Jong in the New Year.

The Red Devils will still have to contend with Spanish La Liga champions Barcelona who are the third of the aforementioned three teams that are keen on signing the Dutchman.

Frenkie De Jong is attracting the interests of the best teams on the European scene following his impressive performances for both club and country.

He was recently part of the Dutch team that qualified for the semifinals of the UEFA Europa League via a 2-2 draw with hosts Germany.
