Manchester United have been handed a huge transfer blow after Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante signed a new contract at the club to secure his long-term future with the Stamford Bridge outfit.
Kante was previously linked with the European duo of Manchester United and Paris Saint Germain (PSG) but those transfer rumours have now been dismissed with the news of a Chelsea contract extension.
The 27-year-old has put pen to paper on a five-year contract until the end of the 2022/23 season.
He has become a key player for Chelsea since joining the West Londoners from Leicester City in the summer of 2016.
Kante signed for the Blues in a deal reported to be around £32m shortly after he played a crucial role in the Foxes’ title-winning campaign under the guidance of Italian tactician Claudio Ranieri.
The French international midfielder helped Chelsea win the Premier League title in his debut season at the club with Antonio Conte in charge.
He also added the FA Cup title to his trophy collection at the end of last season before playing a vital role for the French national team in the summer.
N’Golo Kante won the 2018 FIFA World Cup tournament in Russia via a 4-2 win over Croatia in their final clash.
