North London giants Arsenal are keen on making an offer for in-form Manchester United midfielder Juan Manuel Mata when the transfer window reopens in the New Year.
This is according to the publication from readarsenal which claimed that Arsenal boss Unai Emery wants to reunite with his former player.
The Spanish international star played under Unai Emery during their time with Spanish La Liga giants Valencia.
Mata played for three hugely successful years under the 47-year-old manager between 2008 and 2011 before he moved to the Premier League with Chelsea.
Juan Manuel Mata has less than a year left on his current contract with Manchester United.
His contractual situation at Old Trafford has thrown his long-term future into doubt thereby leading to transfer rumours linking him with a move to other European clubs like Valencia and Arsenal.
Mata has been a major part of the Red Devils’ recent renaissance under manager Jose Mourinho.
He was the main catalyst for the 3-2 comeback win over struggling Newcastle United at the start of the current run.
Manchester United had to come from two goals behind to win against the Magpies with Mata getting the first goal.
He also got the equaliser in Wednesday night’s 2-1 win over Juventus in the Champions League.
