North London giants Arsenal will have to fend off competition from Premier League rivals Manchester United in the chase for Sampdoria defender Joachim Andersen.

According to a publication from La Republicca via readarsenal, Manchester United scouts have watched the Danish defender with the view to make a move for him when the transfer window reopens in the New Year.

The 22-year-old has been a key member of the Sampdoria squad for the last two years.

His impressive outings have attracted interests from several European heavyweights.

Clubs like Juventus, Inter Milan, Arsenal and Manchester United have been touted as possible destinations for Joachim Andersen.

The report further pointed out that it would take a transfer fee of around €30m for any club to prise him away from the Luigi Ferrera Stadium when the transfer window comes around in the New Year.

New Arsenal manager Unai Emery has had to manage his team’s shaky start to the season defensively.

The Gunners have already conceded 14 goals in just 11 games and they have just two clean sheets to show for their troubles.

A move for Joachim Andersen would be a welcomed defensive move for the North Londoners as the Spanish tactician tries to find a lasting solution to the Gunners’ defensive woes.
