Arsenal defender Rob Holding has drawn high praise from former Stoke City and Tottenham Hotspur striker Garth Crooks in the aftermath of his performance against Liverpool at the weekend.
The England junior international produced an impressive performance to keep the Liverpool forward trio of Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
The 23-year-old centre back was an imposing figure for the Gunners at the back as he helped his North London team earn a creditable 1-1 draw with the Reds in their Premier League Matchweek 11 clash at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday evening.
Garth Crooks, who’s a BBC pundit, rewarded him for his outstanding display against Liverpool with a spot on his Team of the Week for Matchweek 11.
The new development represents a remarkable turnaround for the Rob Holding who came close to joining fellow Premier League side Burnley on loan during the penultimate transfer window in January with a view to making the deal permanent for £15m.
Gunners faithful would be glad that he eventually stayed.
He joined Arsenal in the summer of 2016 from English Championship outfit Bolton Wanderers in a deal worth just £2m and is currently on a weekly wages of £40,000.
According to popular statistics website Whoscored, Rob Holding had a pass accuracy of 91.4% and also won three headers.
He made 97 touches, four tackles, two interceptions and seven clearances for the Gunners against Liverpool.
