Former Arsenal midfielder Emmanuel Petit has come hard on three Manchester United players following their respective shambolic performances in the Premier League clash with South Coast club Bournemouth at the weekend.
The 1998 France World Cup tournament criticised the Red Devils trio of Nemanja Matic, Ashley Young and Chris Smalling during an interview with RMC Sport via football365.
Emmanuel Petit questioned the entire Manchester United performance for the opening 30 minutes of the game at the Vitality Stadium on Saturday afternoon before he singled out the aforementioned trio.
Manchester United produced a very poor performance in the opening half an hour and they could have been three or four goals down.
Instead, the Red Devils escaped with just one goal thanks to the game’s opening goal from Bournemouth forward Callum Wilson on 11 minutes off an assist from Junior Stanislas.
Manchester United grew into the game for the final 15 minutes of the first half and they were rewarded in the 35th minute when the in-form Anthony Martial swept home the equaliser.
That was how the scoreline stayed until the 92nd minute when Manchester United substitute Marcus Rashford produced a close range finish to win the game for the away side via a 2-1 victory which saw the team move within four points of the Champions League places.
