Manchester United have been hit with the news that forward Alexis Sanchez has not recovered from injury and will miss the upcoming Premier League clash at home to Merseyside club.
His absence was confirmed by manager Jose Mourinho during his pre-match press conference at Old Trafford on Friday morning ahead of the Everton.
According to him, Sanchez has not recovered from the groin injury he sustained while he was playing for Chile during the recently concluded international break.
He further pointed out that the player aggravated the groin problem while he came on as a substitute in the Red Devils’ last league encounter, a 2-2 draw with top four rivals Chelsea.
Alexis Sanchez had missed the disappointing 1-0 loss to Italian Champions Juventus at home in their Champions League meeting on Tuesday night.
The former Arsenal man has been struggling with form since he swapped London for Manchester United during the penultimate transfer window in January.
Alexis Sanchez moved to Manchester United from the Gunners in a swap deal involving Henrikh Mkhitaryan who sealed a transfer in the other direction.
Since his transfer to Old Trafford, the former Barcelona and Udinese forward has scored just four goals in 26 Manchester United appearances in all competitions.
