Sporting Lisbon manager Jose Peseiro has his eyes firmly fixed on the top spot in Group E of the Europa League as he leads his players out against Arsenal in a Matchday 3 clash.
While speaking ahead of the game against the Gunners at home, Peseiro also revealed that his players don’t need to be motivated ahead of the game scheduled to take place at the Estadio Jose Alvalade on Thursday night.
Sporting Lisbon go into the Arsenal game on the back of a poor league form of two defeats in three games and will start as underdogs against the North Londoners.
Both teams have won their opening two games in their group but the Gunners will be heavy favourites in the aftermath of a run that has seen them win the last ten games in all competitions.
The 3 – 1 victory over Leicester City in their Premier League clash on Monday night was their tenth win in all competitions.
It was also their seventh league victory in a row having earlier won matches against West Ham United, Cardiff City, Newcastle United, Everton, Watford and Fulham.
The visitors had led through a 31st minute Hector Bellerin own goal before the Gunners recovered through Mesut Ozil and substitute Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
