Arsenal have been in search of a player who could bring more calm and stability to their midfield setup for a very long time but all their efforts were unproductive.
The closest they have achieved was when they made a move for former Leicester City midfielder N’Golo Kante, who eventually joined the Blues three seasons ago.
However, the North London club have finally found the player who will get the job done for them throughout this season, that’s according to former defensive midfielder Gilberto Silva.
The former Brazil international believes summer signing Lucas Torreira is the perfect player to render what Arsenal have been missing since they failed to get Kante from the Foxes in the 2016-17 season.
According to Gilberto, the Uruguayan possesses the same quality, appearance and technical ability like the Frenchman, so, he’s Arsenal’s ‘newly found Kante’

Having watched the player during Russia 2018 World Cup, the Gunners legend revealed his happiness that Unai Emery completed his move for the midfielder because he has huge potential to become the Gunners greatest defensive midfielder.
“But he’s got the potential. We saw that at the World Cup, where he did a great job for Uruguay.” Gilberto told Standard Sports.
Despite singing the player’s praise, the Panathinaikos sporting director advised him to keep things easy but remain focused while playing for the North London club.
He charged him to work hard with if he must achieve success with the rest of the team because it takes time and dedication for new players to adapt to how things are done in the Premier League, compared to other European Leagues.
“The Premier League is not easy. You have to work hard to be considered a top player and progress game to game, season to season.” he said.
