Arsenal have confirmed that they have secured Granit Xhaka’s future for more seasons after the Switzerland international signed a long-term contract with the North London club.

The 25-year-old player was an integral part of Arsene Wenger’s squad during the Frenchman’s last season as Arsenal manager. The midfielder started all Premier League matches played by the Gunners last term.

Though the club were collectively poor throughout the season, Xhaka stood out completely from the rest with blistering performances to confirm to Unai Emery that he is ready to be part of his regular starter in the coming season.

While reacting to his new deal with the club, Xhaka — who is presently in Russia with the rest of the Swiss team — told reporters that is happy to extend his stay at the Emirates Stadium. He further hopes that he will win more trophies and accolades for the North London club.

As for new Arsenal manager Unai Emery, Xhaka is a great player whose experience is needed to take the club to a new level. The Spanish manager said he is filled with joy to see that the 25-year-old midfielder is remaining at the club beyond the World Cup in Russia.

“I’m delighted that Granit has extended his contract with us. He’s an important member of the squad andis still young so will be able to develop even more,” he affirmed his happiness – Arsenal.com

Emery wishes him a successful and injury-free World Cup as he would be taking on Brazil in their opening match on Sunday.

“I hope he has a successful World Cup with Switzerland and comes back fit and ready for the new season.” he said – Arsenal.com.

Xhaka is expected to lead his teammates against Brazil as they would be hoping to get a favourable result against the Sambar boys of Brazil.
