Chelsea are reportedly ahead of Arsenal and Manchester United in the race for Senegalese defender Kalidou Koulibaly’s signature as they have reportedly made an outrageous offer to Napoli.

According to British media outlet The Sun via II Matino, the Blues have tabled a £65m offer for his signature and that is a whole lot of money which could be too much for Napoli to reject during the summer transfer window.

The defender has been in fine form for the Naples throughout the season and he’s rated as one of the best defenders in Serie A this season.

Since he joined Napoli from Genk in 2014, Koulibaly has tremendously improved his overall abilities as he now scores some important goals for the club just as he did against Juventus, who are one point above Napoli in the race for the Scudetto trophy.

Manchester United and Arsenal are both linked with his signature as both clubs look to bolster their respective defensive abilities in the next transfer period.

Mourinho could be short of defenders in the summer as most of his defenders are set to move out of his watch after the campaign. Marco Rojo, Luke Shaw and Matteo Darmian are all set to move on with their careers elsewhere in the summer.

Signing the Senegal international will surely be a great advantage to the Blues’ incoming manager, who would hope to return the team back to the standard they are known for.
