Chelsea may have received a major transfer boost in their chase of AC Milan star Leonardo Bonucci if the latest update in Spain is to be believed.

The Italy international defender’s future seems to be in major doubt after a difficult start to life in Italy, with Don Balon linking the player with a transfer to Chelsea.

Their report claimed Antonio Conte was keen for Russian owner Roman Abramovich to release the cash for the purchase of Bonucci, who shone like million stars for him during his spells as head coach of both Serie A giants Juventus and Italy National team.

It looks clear that the Italian tactician is a big fan of the centre-half and interested to work with him once again, and the latest news from Don Balon claims La Liga side Real Madrid will not block the move.

The source suggests the Champions League holders do not see the defender as being good value for cash spent at his age, with Goal claiming recently he’d cost about £35million.

The Blues could do with new defenders this winter after David Luiz’s recent exile from Antonio Conte’s first-team, and with the Premier League Champions not performing as well as they did last term.
