Chelsea have suffered a major blow in their chase of Mauro Icardi, after reports claim that the forward will be offered a new contract by Inter Milan, one that has in it a massive £115million buyout clause.

This is as per Gazzetta Dello Sport, via the Sun, which claims that the new contract will see the Argentine earn €7million-yearly, and that it includes a new £115million release clause.

This update won’t be pleasant to the ears of Chelsea, who were allegedly eyeing up the striker, according to the Sun, as it now looks as if Chelsea will now have to pay up for the Inter Captain, or seek alternatives.

Since joining Inter Milan from fellow Serie A side Sampdoria, he has seen himself become a popular figure among Inter fans.

In 164 matches for the Serie A giants, Maurio Icardi has scored an impressive number of 95 goals and made 23 assists.

So far this campaign, the Argentine has netted an astonishing 17 goals and made one assist in 17 Serie A matches for Luciano Spalletti’s team.

The striker’s ability to use both feet and head has seen some tag him as one of the best forwards on the planet.

Should he end up signing this reported new contract with Inter, it’ll come as a major boost to the Italian side, but a major blow to Premier League Champions Chelsea.
