Former Liverpool first-choice goalkeeper Simon Mignolet has revealed his plan to end his stay at Anfield this summer if he is not re-installed as the club’s number one goalkeeper in the upcoming season.

The Belgian was Liverpool’s first-choice netminder in the early stage of the season but he was made to vacate the position by Jurgen Klopp during the festive period due to poor performances and some schoolboy errors.

Simon Mignolet, in an interview with one Belgian media outlet, admits that sitting on the bench makes him look useless in the team and he is not happy with the way things have turned out to be for him since the second half of the season.

Despite being used as a backup to Loris Karius so far this season, Mignolet believes he might stay till the end of his contract which will expire in 2021. He further explains that he is not concerned with rumours linking him out of the 18-time Premier League club next season.

Mignolet has featured in seven matches without conceding a goal; he has also featured in 12 matches where he conceded a total of 24 of goals. Only time will tell if the Belgian will remain at Anfield or not.

Meanwhile, Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is reportedly close to signing AS Roma goaltender Alisson in the summer.

According to Daily Mail, the German tactician is hoping to make the goalie his first-choice goalkeeper should he eventually join the Reds ahead of next season.
