The Spanish tactician told Pepe that he has to adapt quickly to the rigors of the Premier League.
Nicholas Pepe became the most expensive player in the history of Arsenal after he left French Ligue 1 club Lille to join the Gunners in a £72m.
His form for Lille last season earned him a big money move to the Premier League.
Nicholas Pepe scored 22 goals and also provided 11 assists for Lille in the last campaign.

The 24-year-old beat the record of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as Arsenal’s record transfer recipient when he moved to North London in August.
Aubameyang signed for Arsenal in January 2018 in a deal reported to be around £57m.
The Gabonese player joined the Gunners from German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund.
Nicholas Pepe made his debut for Arsenal during their opening game of the new league season.
He came on as a second half substitute for the Gunners who beat Newcastle United 1-0 courtesy the strike from the aforementioned Aubameyang.
