Both teams met in the UEFA Super Cup as a result of their respective European trophy triumph.
Liverpool won that UEFA Super Cup title via penalties after the two teams shared a four-goal thriller at the end of regulation time and extra time.
The Reds have won all their five games in the Premier League this season from victories over the likes of newcomers Norwich City, Southampton, Arsenal, Burnley and Newcastle United.
On their part, Chelsea have eight points from five games and are in 10th place.
