Danish defender Joachim Andersen has reportedly been linked with a move to Manchester United despite putting pen to paper on a new contract with his club.
The Sampdoria star signed a contract extension with the Italian Serie A side on Thursday.
Andersen, 22, extended his Sampdoria contract by one year until the end of the 2021/22 season.
His contract extension has not stopped him from being linked with several European sides.
The Danish junior international had earlier been linked with a move to European clubs like Juventus, AC Milan, Manchester United and Arsenal.
Despite the contract extension, the 22-year-old has been mooted as a transfer target for many teams.
According to the report from popular Italian media portal Gazzetta dello Sport, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are still interested in Joachim Andersen despite the fact that he has signed a one-year contract extension with Sampdoria.
The publication further claimed that the contract extension could be a ploy for the Italian club to increase his transfer fee for potential suitors.
Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is in search for a new centre back ahead of the upcoming transfer window in the New Year and Joachim Andersen has been touted as one of the Red Devils’ transfer target.
