Arsenal striker Danny Welbeck has pulled out of the Three Lions of England squad ahead of their United Nations League (UNL) games against 2018 World Cup finalists Croatia and Spain.
The former Sunderland and Manchester United attacker will miss the aforementioned games because of injury.
The news of his withdrawal was confirmed via a statement from Arsenal on Friday afternoon.
According to the North Londoners, Welbeck has a minor hamstring problem and that the 27-year-old will be assessed ahead of the next game.
Arsenal host Leicester City in a Premier League clash at the Emirates Stadium on Monday, October 22 and Welbeck faces the race against time to be fit for the encounter.
Danny Welbeck has been an ever-present player under Gareth Southgate since he took charge of the team and was part of the England squad that finished fourth at this summer’s FIFA World Cup tournament in Russia.
He has been in good goalscoring form for Arsenal in the new campaign despite playing second fiddle to the strike partnership duo of French striker Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Danny Welbeck has scored four goals in all competitions, including one Premier League strike, two Carabao Cup goals and one Europa League strike.
