EPL title holders, Liverpool seem to be losing out on the signature of experienced David Alaba with claims that Italian Serie A outfit Juventus are leading in the race.
The Merseyside outfit are in need of a central defender as they have been hit with injuries after Virgil Van Dijk and Joe Gomez suffered various degrees of injuries and the Bayern Munich star has been linked as a better fit for the club owing to his profile.
David Alaba is nowhere close to agreeing on a new deal with the German Bundesliga outfit which makes him readily available in the January winter transfer window. Reports in Italy say he might favour a move to Italy ahead of a move to England.
He is expected to be a short-term and long-term replacement at Anfield and his versatility is a quality that would be useful to manager Jurgen Klopp knowing he has to battle with several injury situations.

According to Tuttosport Juventus view David Alaba as an ideal replacement for veteran defender Giorgio Chiellini but they are hoping to extend the Italian’s deal with the club until 2022 even if the Austria international defender joins in June.
Meanwhile, Juventus and Liverpool are not alone in the race for the versatile defender as a host of top European clubs, including Real Madrid, Paris Saint-Germain, and Manchester City are also monitoring the situation.
David Alaba’s experience is something most clubs will want to bring to their squad. He has won 17 major honours during a his10-year spell in Bavaria, including two Champions League titles, and was instrumental in helping Hansi Flick’s side clinched the treble last season.
There is no better way than to leave when the ovation is high after just winning the treble and leaving as one of the favourite players in the team.
