It is impossible to talk about Liverpool at this time without mentioning the injury crisis that has hit the club in the past weeks.
While the Reds were still lamenting the sidelining of Virgil Van Dijk who suffered an injury and may not play again this season, Trent Alexander-Arnold joined on the sideline. Now the news of Joe Gomez’s injury comes from the England camp.
This development is, of course, a setback to manager Jurgen Klopp’s team and their bid to defend the Premier League title and win other competitions, even though, it looks as if they have been able to manage the situation properly with no defeats so far.
Now, the Merseyside outfit cannot wait for the opening of the winter transfer window in January to bring in a new defender as they have been linked with a number of names, including RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano, Brighton’s Ben White, Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, and more.

However, there are suggestions that Liverpool will look inwards (the Premier League) in their search for a replacement for the injured players in the coming transfer window with a number of options readily available.
Robin Koch
Robin Koch has shown has perfectly replaced Ben White in the Leeds United defence, immediately establishing himself as a key defensive figure under Marcelo Bielsa. His performance in his debut against Liverpool, where he conceded a penalty after just three minutes when he used his arm to block a Mohamed Salah shot speaks more of how much of a player he will become as he has since improved in other games.
Declan Rice
Declan Rice has been attracting interest from Chelsea after starting all 38 league games for West Ham last season. His progress has been very smooth and his commanding display proves he is ready for Liverpool.
Ben White
Ben White is becoming a household name at Brighton & Hove Albion this season and he seems to be on the wanted list of the Reds team after Liverpool scouts reportedly certified him.
Other names are Lloyd Kelly from Bournemouth and Jannik Vestergaard from Southampton.
