Barcelona attacker Ousmane Dembele snubbed a move to Premier League club Manchester United on transfer deadline day and he’s being punished for his decision.

Manchester United were keen to sign the young French international on loan for the season but the player preferred to stay at the Nou Camp to fight for his place in the Barcelona first team under new manager Ronald Koeman.

As per the various reports in the Spanish media, Dembele is now training alone as a consequence of his decision to stay on and fight for a spot in the Barcelona first team.

Barcelona wanted to offload him to make space for Lyon forward Memphis Depay but the Spaniards were unable to sign striker target Depay mainly due to the inability to raise enough funds for his transfer.

The Nou Camp giants were told to pay €30m (£27m) for Memphis Depay whose contract expires next summer but failed to pay it.

In his recent interview, new Barcelona manager Ronald Koeman revealed that the club was unable to sign new players during the just concluded transfer market.

Barcelona had the likes of Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez and Lyon forward Memphis Depay on their transfer list but they were unable to sign at least one of the two players.
