Schalke 04 defender Ozan Kabak has apologised for his actions after the young Turkish international defender was caught spitting in the direction of Ludwig Augustinsson during their Bundesliga clash at the weekend.

The incident during the league game which ended in a 3-1 defeat for Ozan Kabak and his Schalke 04 team at the hands of Werder Bremen.

In his reaction to the incident via Sports Bild, the Liverpool target said that the situation was rather unfortunate and that it was not intentional.

Kabak was given a yellow card for the incident.

The 20-year-old is a target for Premier League champions Liverpool having been linked with the Reds since the start of the summer.

Liverpool want to sign a new centre back in the absence of Dejan Lovren and he’s one of the names said to be on their list of potential targets.

Croatian international defender Lovren left Liverpool to join Russian Premier League side Zenit St. Petersburg earlier in this transfer window.

Apart from Ozan Kabak of Schalke 04, Sevilla defenders Diego Carlos and Jules Kounde have also been linked with a transfer to Anfield.

Napoli centre back Kaildou Koulibaly is also on the list though the Senegalese international is now set to stay with his team for this season according to manager Gennaro Gattuso via reports.
