Chelsea are prepared to make a bid for West Ham United star Declan Rice according to the latest reports coming out of the British media.

Blues boss Frank Lampard has made Declan Rice a transfer priority and time is running out if they want to re-sign the utility player. England international Rice can play as a defensive midfielder and as a centre back.

The Sun revealed that Chelsea are readying a £40m bid for Declan Rice as it was disclosed that the Blues want to take advantage of the financial constraints of their London rivals.

West Ham United have placed an £80m valuation on Declan Rice but the club needs to sell players to fund the signing of new players.

Chelsea are the big spenders in European football this summer following the transfer splurge of over £250m made this summer.

Blues boss Frank Lampard is a big fan of Declan Rice with reports claiming that he wants to sign the player to primarily feature as a centre back.

Lampard and Chelsea will definitely take their spendings to the £300m mark if they can bring Rice back to the club seven years after he left.

The English player was released by Chelsea as a teenager.
