West London outfit, Chelsea have been given the backing by Paul Merson to beat Arsenal in the race for the signature of Man City defender John Stones in this summer transfer window.

Man United and Chelsea are both showing interest in the signature of the 26-year-old as he seems to be nearing the end of his career with the Sky Blue team.

He has not been in the heart of the Pep Guardiola team and that is feared to continue in the coming season, the reason why he is considering leaving the club this summer window.

Paul Merson in his analysis stated that John Stones still has a lot of potentials untapped and he will be a good deal for the West Londoners if they accept to spend on him.

He stressed that John Stones has no future at Man City despite his experience and the age at his advantage which makes him the player anyone should invest in.

However, Arsenal seem to have captured the signature of Brazilian international, Gabriel Magalhaes from French Ligue 1 outfit, Lille which means John Stones might no longer be a priority, making the race for his signature-less competitive.

John Stones won five titles as a Man City player since 2016, including two Premier League titles.
