One of the best defenders the English Premier League side Chelsea has ever had in their club history is John Terry and they are seeking for similar quality.
Before his retirement, John Terry, a Chelsea legend had 712 appearances, winning 5 EPL titles and 5 FA Cups. This adds to the Champions League he won in 2012, playing a big role in all of the wins.
Manager Frank Lampard is keen to bring in a player with such quality as his former teammate and has identified Declan Rice from West Ham United as the best fit ahead of the coming summer transfer window.

The West London outfit seems to be the most active club ahead of the summer window, having spent about £75 million already on Ajax winger Hakim Ziyech and RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner. They are obviously not stopping at that as the defensive department will be the next focus, having identified Leicester City defender Ben Chilwell and Declan Rice.
Frank Lampard will prefer the West Ham player after claiming he has the attributes of John Terry, expressing confidence that Declan Rice will achieve more than John Terry if he eventually makes the switch.
Declan Rice has impressed with West Ham having had 34 appearances in all competitions, and earning a national team call-up.
