The awful performance of the Arsenal team since the return of the EPL due to the Covid-19 pandemic might not be compared to the speculations relating to the injury of Bernd Leno for manager Mikel Arteta.

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal suffered a 3-0 defeat against Manchester City as well as a 2-1 defeat at Brighton on Saturday, putting their hope of Champions League qualification dim.

Bernd Leno landed awkwardly in the game on Saturday and feared to have suffered knee ligament damage. There are fears that he could be out of action for 12 months and that is obviously going to be a difficult one for the Spanish manager.

Leno has been a reliable shot-stopper who has pulled tremendous saves and arguably one of the best in the EPL this season.

This is no doubt bad news for Arteta as he will battle to replace the German, adding to the headache of strengthening his squad ahead of a new season.

While heading to the transfer market for another goalkeeper will not be an option for Arsenal, Emi Martinez will be the next shot for Arsenal to help save the season from another woeful one.

Emi Martinez has been linked to Leeds United but that may no longer happen because of Bernd Leno’s injury at Brighton.
