Premier League giants Manchester United have joined the race to sign highly-rated Italian international Federico Chiesa who plays his club football for Serie A side Fiorentina.

According to French media portal Le10Sport, Manchester United are keen on signing Federico Chiesa who’s the son of ex-Italian national team player Enrico Chiesa and it was also stated that scouts from the English club have watched the player in action on several occasions this season.

Manchester United will face serious competition for his signature with the likes of Europa League contenders Inter Milan, Italian Serie A holders Juventus and French champions Paris Saint Germain (PSG) also interested in the 22-year-old attacker.

The interest of these clubs in Federico Chiesa was confirmed by La Gazzetta dello Sport, a popular newspaper in Italy.

Federico Chiesa plays on either the left-wing or right-wing for both club Fiorentina and country Italy but he has been deployed as a striker at Fiorentina most times this season by manager Giuseppe Lachini and he has returned 12 goals in 25 starts in all competitions.

The player has scored seven goals in addition to five assists in those games for Fiorentina this season. Chiesa is expected to play a prominent role for the Italian national team at the upcoming European Championships.

The period for the 2020 European Championships is expected to be moved from the initial date of this summer. The tournament might likely be moved from this summer to winter later this year or next summer mainly due to the effect of the dreaded Coronavirus which has eaten deep into countries like Italy, China and many more.

Tuttosport is one of the most popular news outlets in Italy and it has rated Federico Chiesa at €70m for the interested clubs. He could be a cheaper winger acquisition for the Red Devils in comparison to Borussia Dortmund star Jadon Sancho. His contract at Fiorentina do not expire until 2022.
