The FA Cup win over Derby County on Thursday night would have gone a long way to convince Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer that the future of Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo lies at Old Trafford.

Manchester United were guests of English Championship club Derby County in an FA Cup last 16. Red Devils legend Wayne Rooney is now a player/coach at Derby County and the ex-England international played the whole duration of the game against his old club but he could not stop Odion Ighalo from wreaking havoc on his team.

Odion Ighalo scored twice either side of halftime to add to the opening goal of the game scored by left-back Luke Shaw as Manchester United ran out 3-0 winners at the expense of their hosts.

Those goals took his tally to three goals in two starts and four substitute appearances. His latest strikes would have convinced that the club has to give the player a permanent deal.

Odion Ighalo is living the dream of having supported Manchester United as a boy growing up in Nigeria.

He signed for the Red Devils on loan for the remainder of this season after netting 10 goals in 19 games for his parent club Shanghai Shenhua of China.

Solskjaer has already told reporters in one of this latest interviews that Odion Ighalo could earn a permanent transfer at the club as the player adds a new dimension to the Manchester United frontline. He was signed as a short-term cover for the injured Marcus Rashford.

Ighalo is not new to English football after spending some time at Watford in the last decade.

He was previously linked with Manchester United in 2015 while he was still a Watford player. Ighalo to Manchester United transfer rumours were on the back of his sensational performances for the Hornets especially in his first season at the club.
