Reigning European champions Liverpool have been in devastating form in the Premier League this season and their success this season could be traced to defensive solidity.
The Virgil Van Dijk-led Liverpool defence has been solid in the league this term just like what was obtainable in the same competition in the last campaign. Despite the defensive solidity, Liverpool are still eyeing the addition of some defenders ahead of this summer.
Liverpool have not always had a solid defence under manager Jurgen Klopp. The Reds were known for their porous defence until the signing of Dutch international Van Dijk from Southampton for a then world-record fee for a defender.
Southampton were paid £75m by Liverpool for the transfer of Virgil Van Dijk in January 2018.

Liverpool added goalkeeper Alisson Becker to their ranks at the start of last season in a £67m deal and the Brazilian national team shot-stopper proved to be the missing piece in the defensive jigsaw.
Alisson Becker was the most expensive goalkeeper ever for some days before Chelsea signed Kepa Arrizabalaga from Atletico Madrid in a £71m.
The Brazilian was signed by Liverpool from AS Roma and he was a key member of the team that had the best record defensively last summer. That defensive solidity has extended into this season with just 15 goals conceded in 26 games.
Ahead of this summer, Liverpool are eyeing a new centre back and a full back most especially. Here are their targets:
1. Max Aarons
The Norwich City right-back is a major target for the Reds ahead of this summer. He is a regular fixture in the Norwich City side that’s bottom of the Premier League.
2. Diego Carlos
Liverpool centre back Dejan Lovren could leave the club this summer as he has one year left on his deal. Sevilla defender Diego Carlos is seen as his direct replacement.
