Manchester United are on the verge of appointing Luis Campos

Sleeping Premier League giants Manchester United are closing in on the first signing of 2020 following the news that the club will soon appoint a director of football.

Reports claimed that Manchester United are on the verge of appointing Luis Campos as the director of football at the Theatre of Dreams.

Luis Campos works with French Ligue 1 side Lille at the moment.

The 55-year-old was responsible for identifying talents like Anthony Martial at AS Monaco before the French international joined Manchester United in 2015 in a deal that saw him become the most expensive teenager in world football as at then.

Luis Campos also identified other talents like Fabinho (Liverpool), Bernardo Silva (Manchester City) and Kylian Mbappe (Paris Saint Germain PSG) at AS Monaco.

He was a key player in the grand scheme of things as AS Monaco ended a 17-year wait for the league title in 2017 in addition to reaching the semifinals of the Champions League that season.

He’s expected to smoothing football operations at Manchester United with chief executive Ed Woodward keen to start identifying talents rather than spend a lot of money on established players that won’t hit the heights expected when they join the Old Trafford club.
