Arsenal midfielder Emile Smith-Rowe is closing in on a loan move to English Championship side Huddersfield Town according to Football Insider.

Huddersfield Town have been struggling in the English Championship this season having been relegated from the Premier League at the end of last season.

The Terriers finished last on the league table at the end of last season’s Premier League campaign and they would be boosted by the signing of Emile Smith-Rowe on a temporary deal.

They are five points better than the relegation zone at the moment having lost their last match 5-2 to Stoke City.

Huddersfield Town will face fellow strugglers, Barnsley in their next game and Emile Smith-Rowe is not expected to feature as the match will come too soon for him.

Emile Smith-Rowe came through the ranks at Arsenal before breaking into the first team two seasons ago under legendary manager Arsene Wenger.

A large fraction of his Arsenal appearances has come in the Europa League and he made his first start for the Gunners last month during the goalless draw with Everton away from home.

Smith-Rowe spent the second half of last season on loan at German Bundesliga side RB Leipzig where he played just three games.
