North London giants Arsenal have reportedly arrived at a five-man shortlist as their search for a permanent manager continues.
This is according to The Athletic which revealed that their managerial list had been reduced to just five names and that former Arsenal player Mikel Arteta is the favourite to return to his former hunting ground.
It was revealed that the likes of Patrick Vieira, Mauricio Pochettino, Roberto Martinez and Carlo Ancelotti made the final shortlist.
The managerial shortlist was arrived at through the senior Arsenal officials given the responsibility of finding a suitable manager for the Emirates Stadium job.

Arsenal directors Edu, Huss Fahmy, and Raul Sanllehi are in charge of the recruitment of a manager for the Gunners.
The aforementioned publication further said that the list will be whittled down to two or three names before club owner Stan Kroenke will make a decision on the next appointment as far as the permanent Arsenal manager is concerned.
For now, club legend and former winger Freddie Ljungberg is in charge of the first team as the Gunners try to make an assault on a Champions League football for next season.
He already has one league win in their attempts till this weekend.
