Fallen Premier League giants Manchester United are still the most likely destination for Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale.
This is according to the report from Sportsmole which revealed that Manchester United will be the favorites to sign Bale if the Welshman decides to leave Real Madrid during the January transfer window despite the reported interest of former club Tottenham Hotspur.
The appointment of Jose Mourinho as the new Spurs manager has prompted transfer reports linking Bale with a return to the club with some newspaper publications claiming that Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy has been given the go-ahead to pursue a January transfer for the Welsh international.
Gareth Bale left Spurs for Real Madrid six years ago in a then world-record deal worth £85.3m and he went on to become a key player for the Los Merengues though injury problems have curtailed his progress in recent years.

The Welsh international vice-captain has always been linked with Manchester United whom he almost joined before his transfer to Real Madrid and Tottenham Hotspur.
His commitment to Real Madrid has been questioned by the club’s fans in recent weeks and that has led to doubts over his future.
He has less than three years on his contract with a weekly salary of around £650,000 which could be a stumbling block for interested teams like Manchester United and Spurs.
Bale came close to joining Chinese Super League (CSL) club Jiangsu Suning in the summer for free before Real Madrid president Florentino Perez called it off.
Real Madrid would certainly demand a transfer fee for him if he was to leave the club in the New Year.
