Newly appointed Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho almost ensured that Manchester United didn’t sign Harry Maguire according to the Daily Mirror.
It was revealed that Mourinho warned the Manchester United hierarchy against signing England international Harry Maguire for more than £50m last summer while he was still the Red Devils’ manager.
Leicester City wanted at least £60m for Harry Maguire when Manchester United asked about his availability shortly after the FIFA World Cup tournament in Russia last summer.
Jose Mourinho was at Manchester United for a few months more before the Portuguese tactician was dismissed by the Red Devils in December 2018.

Manchester United eventually signed Harry Maguire from Leicester City for £80m this summer thus making him the most expensive defender ahead of Liverpool star Virgil Van Dijk.
Dutch international Van Dijk was the most expensive defender for 18 months after Liverpool paid £75m for his signature in January 2018.
Harry Maguire has impressed as a Manchester United player despite the inconsistent form shown by the Red Devils in the Premier League this season.
The former Hull City and Sheffield United centre back captained Manchester United in the last Premier League game against Brighton and Hove Albion in the absence of Ashley Young who was suspended after five yellow cards.
