Crystal Palace are reportedly plotting a transfer for experienced Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic ahead of the January transfer window.

According to journalist IndyKaila, Crystal Palace are interested in signing Nemanja Matic who has not been able to secure a spot in the Manchester United XI due to the emergence of young Scottish international Scott McTominay.

Nemanja Matic is presently out injured at the moment with an unspecified injury.

The Serbian international recently went to Dubai alongside England international left-back Luke Shaw as the two Manchester United players try to recover from their various injury problems.

Nemanja Matic is working his way back to full fitness and he’s expected to be fit for the next Manchester United game in the Premier League.

The Serbian could be in line for a return to the Manchester United squad at least for the league trip to Premier League newcomers Sheffield United on Sunday.

Ahead of the week 13 Premier League game scheduled to take place at Bramall Lane, Sheffield United have more points than Manchester United.

The Blades have recorded 17 points from the 12 games played this season and the Red Devils have one point less than their upcoming league opponents.

The recent resurgence of Arsenal under new manager Mikel Arteta will be tested when the Gunners take a short trip to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace in the London Derby for the early game on Saturday in the Premier League.

Arsenal have won their last two games in all competitions as Mikel Arteta starts to turn the fortunes of the Gunners around after a difficult first half of the season.

The Gunners won back-to-back games for the first time in three months and they have not won two games in a row in the Premier League in six months.

Since the opening two league fixtures against Newcastle United and Burnley, Arsenal are yet to repeat the feat as they have struggled under both Unai Emery and Freddie Ljungberg who came in as a caretaker manager shortly after former Sevilla and Valencia manager Unai Emery was sacked.

The Gunners could make it two league wins in a row against Crystal Palace whom they have not beaten in three Premier League meetings since the 4-1 win at home in January 2018.

Crystal Palace are injury hit as manager Roy Hodgson could be without 12 players.

According to Squawka, Arsenal will be forced to a 2-2 draw at Crystal Palace.

Crystal Palace won’t be able to field anything close to their best XI when they welcome fellow London side Arsenal to Selhurst Park for their second Premier League meeting of the current season.

The two teams shared four goals in the first league meeting at the Emirates Stadium in October as Crystal Palace came from two goals down to secure a point.

According to Crystal Palace manager, his team is down to the barebones and he needs help from the club bosses in terms of new players.

It doesn’t seem like help will come in form of big-money signings and the former Switzerland national team manager has told Crystal Palace officials to concentrate on loan signings or free transfer signings.

After the FA Cup loss to Derby County of the English Championship, Roy Hodgson told reporters that Max Meyer and Jairo Riedewald have joined the lengthy injury list at the club.

He also lost midfielder Luka Milivojevic to suspension after that game as a result of the red card given to him during the Derby County game which Crystal Palace lost 1-0 thus prompting the Rams to progress into the fourth round of the FA Cup.

Crystal Palace have appealed the red card given to Luka Milivojevic who has always been a thorn in Arsenal’s flesh with five goals in the last six games against the Gunners.

Wilfried Zaha

Manchester United are still interested in signing Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha according to journalist Ian McGarry who told Reach plc’s Transfer Window Podcast.

According to him, the Red Devils have an interest in their former player Zaha who didn’t have the best of careers at Old Trafford.

He joined Manchester United from Crystal Palace as a young and raw winger in the summer of 2013 months after his transfer had been finalized.

His transfer was the last one conducted under the managerial reign of legendary manager Sir Alex Ferguson.

Crystal Palace and Manchester United agreed a £15m deal for him in January 2013 but the England-born Ivorian international player didn’t live up to the hype that came with his transfer to Old Trafford.

He was then sent on loan to current Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at Cardiff City before the Ivorian player secured another loan deal to boyhood club Crystal Palace.

Zaha impressed during that loan spell at Palace and that prompted the Eagles to re-sign him permanently.

He had been their main man at Crystal Palace since returning to the South London club permanently in 2015.

Wilfried Zaha is presently rated at £90m by Crystal Palace and Manchester United won’t have any problems with that transfer fee as long as they have reached the decision to sign him.

The likes of Arsenal and Everton had issues with his valuation as they both failed to pursue Zaha away from Crystal Palace mainly due to the high transfer fee slapped on him by Eagles chairman Steve Parish.

Wilfried Zaha

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson is adamant that star player Wilfried Zaha won’t leave the club during the upcoming January transfer window despite the rumours linking him with a lucrative move to the West London club.

Zaha is said to be a subject of serious transfer interest from Chelsea, and the Blues are ready to meet his £80m asking price as set by Crystal Palace.

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has a transfer kitty of £150m for the January transfer window, and Ivorian international star Zaha is on his shortlist of players being targeted by the club.

Roy Hodgson spoke about Wilfried Zaha during his post-match press conference after the M23 Derby between his Crystal Palace side and Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League on Monday night.

Zaha scored a good goal in the second half to rescue a 1-1 draw for his team after the visitors had gone ahead at the start of the second half through the in-form Neal Maupay.

French striker Maupay has now scored in each of his last three games in the Premier League.

For Wilfried Zaha, he has scored in three of the last five games in the Premier League.

He was a Manchester United player for two years between 2013 and 2015 before making the return to Crystal Palace whom he left for the Red Devils previously.

Wilfried Zaha

Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has played down transfer rumours linking the Blues with a January swoop for Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha.

The Blues have been involved in a possible £80m swoop for Ivorian international star Zaha in the media in the United Kingdom.

Frank Lampard downplayed the Zaha to Chelsea transfer reports during his pre-match press conference on Friday ahead of the Premier League clash with Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge later this weekend.

The Chelsea legend went on to state the profile of the players being targeted by the club ahead of the winter transfer market in January.

According to him, Chelsea are after top players that will improve the team ahead of the second half of the season.

Chelsea are free to sign players after their transfer ban was lifted upon their appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS).

The Blues had been handed a two-window transfer ban by FIFA with the club serving the first transfer window ban in the summer.

CAS waived the second transfer window thus paving the way for Chelsea to sign players in January.

The likes of former player Nathan Ake of Bournemouth, Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho, and Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha have been linked with the club.

Wilfried Zaha

Europa League winners Chelsea are reportedly keen to sign Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha during the January transfer market which opens again in the next few weeks.

According to The Independent, Chelsea want to sign the in-form Zaha if their transfer ban is overturned at the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS).

Chelsea are in the midst of a two-window transfer ban imposed on them by world football’s governing body FIFA due to their culpability in the signing of underage players.

The Blues had earlier made an appeal to FIFA over the transfer ban and it was thrown out thereby prompting them to take the matter to CAS.

Chelsea were unable to sign players in the summer as they served the first part of the punishment.

They will serve the second part of the punishment in the January transfer window if the ban is not overturned.

Wilfried Zaha was a transfer target for both Everton and Arsenal in the summer but the two clubs were unable to produce the £80m transfer fee ended to sign him.

Recent reports claimed that Crystal Palace have slammed a £70m asking price on him ahead of January transfer window.

Zaha has scored two goals in the last three games for Crystal Palace.

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson is determined to keep star player Wilfried Zaha at the club beyond the upcoming January transfer window.

Hodgson talked about Zaha and the possibility of him leaving the club in January during his post-match press conference after the Burnley game at Turf Moor on Saturday evening.

According to him, Ivorian international Zaha is not for sale as he’s hopeful that the player will score the goals that will see them climb up the Premier League table.

Wilfried Zaha expressed his desire to leave Crystal Palace in the summer but he was unable to engineer a transfer out of the club amidst the bids from fellow English top-flight teams Arsenal and Everton.

Arsenal and Everton both submitted several bids for the player but they didn’t get to the £80m asking price slapped on him by the Eagles.

Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish has already confirmed that the club will sell Zaha in the January transfer window if they can get a premium transfer fee for him though Roy Hodgson has other ideas.

The Crystal Palace manager is ready to do battle for Zaha to stay at Selhurst Park.

Zaha scored one of the goals as Crystal Palace recorded a 2-0 win at the home of Burnley.

Olivier Giroud

Crystal Palace are considering the idea of pulling out of a deal for Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud who has found playing time to come by in the past weeks.

Giroud is the third choice central striker at Chelsea at this point in time behind Michy Batshuayi and Tammy Abraham.

Crystal Palace want to sign Olivier Giroud to boost their attacking options but the transfer would take its toll on the club on the financial front.

According to the Daily Mail, Giroud is not ready to lower his weekly wage demands and that Crystal Palace want to pull the plug on the deal as a result.

Financial demands made by Giroud led to the collapse of a possible transfer to Italian Serie A giants Inter Milan in January.

Inter Milan were ready to offer Olivier Giroud a two-and-a-half year contract but his weekly salary of £110,000 proved to be the stumbling block to the transfer according to Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

Olivier Giroud is keen to leave Chelsea in January in search of more playing time as he tries to protect his spot in the French national team starting XI as the 2020 European Championships draws closer.

The Frenchman has spent two years at Chelsea and he has a little over six months left to go on his existing contract.
