Former Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is too old to be the Bayern Munich manager according to French football legend Marcel Desailly.

The former Chelsea and AC Milan defender said this in a recent interview as monitored by the Daily Mirror.

Arsene Wenger has not been in the dugout since he left North London giants Arsenal after 22 years at the club.

The Frenchman attained legendary status in North London before he left last summer.

He has been in the media industry with the likes of EuroSport and BeIN Sports since quitting his job as the Arsenal manager.

Arsene Wenger resigned as the Arsenal manager last summer despite the fact that he had one year left on his then contract the Gunners.

The French tactician is the frontrunner for the Bayern Munich job after the Bavarian giants dismissed Niko Kovac as their manager at the weekend.

Arsene Wenger became the favourite for the Bayern Munich job after the likes of Paris Saint Germain (PSG) manager Thomas Tuchel and RB Leipzig director Ralf Rangnick distanced themselves from the post.

Niko Kovac lost his job as the Bayern Munich manager after an unimpressive start to the new Bundesliga season.

Bayern Munich are fourth on the league table and four points adrift of leaders Borussia Moenchengladbach.
