Manchester United are linked with a move for RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner as part of Solskjaer’s hope of finding a long-term solution to his team’s attacking problems.

Werner, who provided three assists and three goals against Mainz 05 on Saturday, is said to be on Man United’s radar despite interest from Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp.

However, football expert Raphael Honigstein has expressed his thoughts on the player’s proposed move to Old Trafford.

According to The Athletic’s highly-rated football writer, rumors linking the German to the Theatre of Dreams are nothing to trust at the time of this report because the Red Devils haven’t approached the player’s representatives.

He, however, confirmed that Bayern Munich – who were heavily linked with the player’s services during last summer window — have pulled out of the race, leaving United and Liverpool in the intense battle.

“Bayern are out of the race at the moment. I don’t know if the Man Utd link is really serious – he doesn’t strike me as a key signing — but it would make a lot of sense for Liverpool at least take a very serious look.” he said.

Solskjaer will hope to see his employers increase their urge to get the 23-year-old ahead of Liverpool because the presence of the in-form striker will improve their attacking department.
