Arsenal manager Unai Emery is yet to decide whether or not Granit Xhaka should retain his position as captain after the events of the weekend which saw the Swiss international fall out with the fans badly.

During his pre-match press conference on Tuesday afternoon ahead of the Carabao Cup meeting with Liverpool, Unai Emery said that no decision has been taken on the suitability of Xhaka as the Arsenal manager moving forward.

Unai Emery and his Arsenal players travel to Merseyside to take on Premier League leaders Liverpool in the fourth round of the competition.

Apart from Granit Xhaka who has been rested for the Liverpool game because of his recent standoff with Arsenal fans, the likes of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, David Luiz and Calum Chambers have also been rested.

Granit Xhaka could lose his status as the Arsenal captain with fans and ex-players calling for him to be dropped as the Gunners skipper after the events from the Premier League clash at home to London rivals Crystal Palace.

He mouthed expletives to the Arsenal fans after being booed for slowly walking to the bench with Arsenal in search of the winning goal.

Crystal Palace had come from two goals down at that point and they eventually got away with a 2-2 draw.
