Arsenal manager Unai Emery has had to deal with the Granit Xhaka situation ahead of the Carabao Cup fourth round clash with hosts Liverpool.

Xhaka mouthed expletives to the Arsenal fans when he was greeted with chorus of boos upon his substitution during the league game at home to Crystal Palace in their London Derby clash in the Premier League.

The Swiss international skipper is also the Arsenal captain but there has been calls from fans and former players that he should be removed from that role.

For now, Granit Xhaka remains the Gunners skipper with Arsenal manager Unai Emery revealing that he’s yet to make a decision on the matter.

According to him, the player’s mental well-being is the priority for now.

Unai Emery has decided to drop Granit Xhaka for the Liverpool game to give him time to recover from the situation at the weekend.

Apart from Granit Xhaka, Unai Emery also confirmed during his pre-match press conference on Tuesday afternoon that Calum Chambers, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and David Luiz won’t feature against Liverpool.

Possible Arsenal XI vs Liverpool (4-2-3-1): Emiliano Martinez; Hector Bellerin, Sokratis Papasthathopoulos, Rob Holding, Sead Kolasinac; Lucas Torreira, Joe Willock; Gabriel Martinelli, Dani Ceballos, Bukayo Saka; Alexandre Lacazette.
