United Target 21-year-old Defender — Is He Needed At Old Trafford?

Manchester United have reportedly joined in the race to sign Norwegian center-back Kristoffer Ajer who currently plays for Scottish giants Celtic.
The young Norway international is said to be among the list of players targeted by Solskjaer who signed two defenders in the summer.
Solskjaer managed to complete his move for Harry Maguire from Leicester City and Aaron Wan-Bisaka from Crystal Palace but the former Molde manager wants his compatriot at Old Trafford.
However, this could turn out to be one of the inevitable transfer rumours as there is no urgent reason why the Red Devils should be targeting the young inexperienced 21-year-old defender.

With Harry Maguire, Victor Lindelof, Marcos Rojo — who has promised to improve his game — and Axel Tuanzebe, Solskjaer has a lot of options at the heart of the defense.
Eric Bailly will recover from his long-term injury setback in January, meaning there is another quality center-back available for selection. Hence, Solskjaer’s move for the youngster could be questionable and only the manager knows why he’s interested in his compatriot.
Meanwhile, United recorded their first away victory in seven months as they defeated Partizan Belgrade during Thursday’s Europa League clash.
Anthony Martial’s first-half goal from the spot was enough to help the unimpressive Solskjaer’s side pick up maximum points against the European minnows.
