Merseyside giants Liverpool have received further boost in the Premier League title race with the news that title rivals Manchester City might be without their star striker for the upcoming league game at the weekend.

Liverpool have not won a league title in three decades but that could change this season with the Reds already the team to beat in the Premier League.

The Reds were handed a major boost in the title race with the news that Premier League title rival Manchester City could be without their star striker for the weekend’s set of league games.

They were given a big boost shortly before the international break when Manchester City suffered a shock 2-0 loss to Europa League campaigners Wolverhampton Wanderers at home.

That surprising defeat gave Liverpool an eight-point lead at the top of the Premier League table.

Liverpool needed a late James Milner penalty to beat Leicester City 2-1 at home to open up that eight points lead and Premier League champions Manchester City were expected to cut the gap back to five points with a win over Wolves but that didn’t happen.

Adama Traore scored twice in the second half to give his Wolves team the three points at stake.

Manchester City striker Sergio Aguero was involved in an accident on his way to training on Wednesday morning but he didn’t sustain any injury.

It remains to be seen whether he would feature in the away game with Crystal Palace.
