EPL: Probable Liverpool Staring Lineup vs Leicester City Clash

Premier League leaders Liverpool have the opportunity to extend their lead at the top of the table when they welcome Leicester City to Anfield in a week eight league clash.

Liverpool can move eight points clear of nearest challengers and title rivals Manchester City at the top of the Premier League table with a win at home to the Foxes on Saturday evening.

Manchester City will not play their league game until Sunday when they entertain Europa League campaigners Wolverhampton Wanderers at the Etihad Stadium.

Liverpool have won all their seven league games this season and they welcome their former manager Brendan Rodgers and his Leicester City team to Anfield hoping to continue their winning run dating back to last season.

The Reds have won 16 league games in a row though that’s still two matches away from the record currently held by Manchester City.

Brendan Rodgers have taken Leicester City to the third spot on the league table and the former league champions are seen as a formidable team in the race for the top four at the end of the current Premier League season.

Possible Liverpool XI: Adrian; Trent Alexandre-Arnold, Joel Matip, Virgil Van Dijk, Andy Robertson; Fabinho, Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum; Mohamed Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane.

Six Arsenal Players Ruled Out Of Europa League Clash

Six Arsenal players will miss the trip to Standard Liege FC of Belgium in the Europa League after the club provided the injury update on the team on Wednesday.

The Gunners will be guests of Standard Liege on Thursday night as they attempt to seal qualification for the knockout stage of the Europa League.

Arsenal need to secure a point from the Matchday Six clash or at least avoid a four-goal defeat to the Belgians to book their place in the next stage of the competition.

The Gunners will be without the likes of Granit Xhaka, Dani Ceballos, Rob Holding, Kieran Tierney, Hector Bellerin and Nicholas Pepe.

Swiss international midfielder Xhaka sufferer concussion during the 3-1 away win over West Ham in their London Derby clash in the Premier League on Monday night and will sit out the Standard Liege game as well as the Premier League game at home to holders Manchester City on Sunday evening as part of concussion procedure.

Spanish international Dani Ceballos sustained a hamstring injury in the Europa League Matchday Four clash at Vitoria Guimares FC of Portugal at the start of last month and he’s not expected back in action until the end of this month.

Premier League giants Arsenal still have some work to do before they can confirm their place in the Round of 32 in the Europa League ahead of their final group game against Standard Liege FC of Belgium.

The Gunners travel to take on the Belgians in the Matchday Six clash in Group F with the North Londoners needing at least one point to seal passage to the next stage.

Arsenal can also risk defeat and still qualify for the next stage of the competition as long as they avoid the defeat of more than four unreplied goals.

Interim manager Freddie Ljungberg got the first win of tenure on Monday night during the West Ham United game which ended in a 3-1 for his team with the help of three goals in ten second-half minutes from Gabriel Martinelli, Nicholas Pepe and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

Arsenal legend Freddie Ljungberg has a lot of injury problems to deal with ahead of the Standard Liege game.

He could miss up to six players for the game with the likes of Nicholas Pepe, Kieran Tierney, Granit Xhaka, Hector Bellerin, Dani Ceballos and Rob Holding all struggling with one problem or the other.

The possible knockout stage opponents for Champions League holders Liverpool have been revealed after the conclusion of the group stage.

Matches over the eight groups have been concluded on Wednesday night in the Champions League and 16 teams have emerged from 32 teams for the next stage (round of 16).

Champions League holders Liverpool are one of the 16 teams in the knockout stage of the competition this season after the Reds finished as the top team in Group E ahead of Napoli, Red Bull Salzburg, and Genk.

Liverpool sealed their place in the next round with the 2-0 away win over Austrian Bundesliga champions Red Bull Salzburg courtesy the goals Naby Keita and star forward Mohamed Salah in the second half.

The reigning European champions needed just one point to be assured of a last 16 spot before the Red Bull Salzburg game.

Liverpool have the possibility of meeting five teams in the round of 16.

It was revealed that Chelsea are monitoring the situation of Timo Werner at his German Bundesliga outfit.

Timo Werner has been in sensational form for RB Leipzig who is one of the 16 teams in the knockout stage of the Champions League.

The petite German international has scored 15 goals and also assisted five more goals in his 14 league appearances for RB Leipzig this term.

Timo Werner is the second topscorer in the German Bundesliga this season behind Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski who has 16 goals in this season’s German Bundesliga.

RB Leipzig attacker Timo Werner has scored 20 goals in 22 appearances for his team in all competitions including three goals in six Group G games in the Champions League.

He has also scored two goals and assisted two more goals in two games in the German Cup for the 2019/20 season.

Premier League duo Arsenal and Everton have both been touted as the next destination for Carlo Ancelotti since the Italian manager was sacked from his position at Napoli earlier this week.

Carlo Ancelotti lost his job as the Napoli manager on Tuesday night despite leading the Italian Serie A side to victory in the Champions League.

According to the report from the Daily Mirror, Carlo Ancelotti was placed on gardening leave immediately after his dismissal meaning that the Italian tactician is still on the payroll at Napoli with interested clubs like Arsenal and Everton expected to pay huge compensation fee for him if they want him as their next manager.

Carlo Ancelotti is not a stranger to the Premier League having been appointed the Chelsea manager in 2009.

He spent two seasons at Chelsea before being sacked in 2011.

Ancelotti won the Premier League title at Chelsea during the 2009/10 season thus becoming the second Blues boss to achieve the feat behind Jose Mourinho.

He was named the Napoli manager last summer and led them to second place in the league last season which was his first full campaign with the club.

Merseyside giants Liverpool are reportedly in pole position to sign highly-rated Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho according to journalist Simon Hughes who works for The Athletic.

It was revealed that the Premier League leaders are ahead of rivals Chelsea and Manchester United in the quest to sign Jadon Sancho who’s keen to return to English football.

The England international left the Premier League in 2017.

Jadon Sancho signed for Borussia Dortmund two years ago for a fee of around £8m from Premier League champions Manchester City.

He had some problems at Borussia Dortmund earlier this season but that seems to be a thing of the past after the young English winger scored three goals in the last two games in all competitions.

Earlier in the season, Jadon Sancho was fined and banned from one league game by his club after returning late from the October international duty.

He was subsequently substituted in the first half of the German Bundesliga mauling received at the hands of rivals and holders Bayern Munich.

Borussia Dortmund were beaten 4-0 during that game.

Jadon Sancho is in his third season at Borussia Dortmund and has weighed in with 10 goals and 11 assists in all competitions.

He scored 12 goals and provided 17 assists in the last campaign.
