Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has slammed midfielder Ross Barkley for being naive after he found himself in a cab incident earlier this week.

England international Barkley hugged the headlines earlier this week after he was filmed arguing with a cab driver.

The argument stemmed from Ross Barkley spilling chips all over the car.

Frank Lampard was asked about the cab incident during his pre-match press conference on Tuesday ahead of the crucial Champions League game at the home of French Ligue 1 side Lille.

According to him, Ross Barkley would have done well to avoid the unnecessary attention the cab incident has attracted to him.

He was then asked if he gave the former Everton midfielder permission for a night out.

In his response, Frank Lampard said that permission was not needed for the England international midfielder to go out.

The Chelsea boss also confirmed that Ross Barkley will be in the Blues squad for the Lille game as they attempt to bounce back from the disappointing loss to Spanish outfit Valencia on Matchday 1.

Lampard and his Chelsea players were beaten 1-0 at home by Valencia in their Champions League group stage opener this season courtesy the second half strike from Spanish international Rodrigo.
