Chelsea manager Frank Lampard singled out two of his players for their performance during the thumping Carabao Cup third round win over Grimsby Town.

Frank Lampard spoke to reporters during his post-match press conference after the game.

The former Blues midfielder was full of praise for two young players namely Marc Guehi and Billy Gilmour after the game which ended in a 7-1 win over English League Two club Grimsby Town.

Mark Guehi was immense for Chelsea in his centre back position, while Billy Gilmour put in a shift for the Blues in midfield.

Frank Lampard also explained why Ross Barkley didn’t take the penalty awarded to Chelsea during the Carabao Cup game.

According to the ex-England international star, he selected stand-in captain Pedro Rodriguez to take the penalty.

Spanish international Pedro Rodriguez was successful from the spot in addition to further goals from Belgian international striker Michy Batshuayi (2), Ross Barkley, Callum Hudson-Odoi, Kurt Zouma and right-back Reece James.

Callum Hudson-Odoi and Recce James were on the scoresheet on their return to the team from injury to provide Frank Lampard with a boost ahead of the upcoming games against Brighton and Hove Albion in the Premier League and French Ligue 1 side Lille in the Champions League.
