West London giants Chelsea are through to the Carabao Cup fourth round after their win over League Two side Grimsby Town.

Chelsea thrashed Grimsby Town 7-1 at home in their Carabao Cup third round clash played at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night.

It was the first win for Frank Lampard at Stamford Bridge since he became the Chelsea manager in the summer.

Frank Lampard and Chelsea had played four games at home without success before the Grimsby Town clash.

Chelsea are winless in three league games at home under manager Frank Lampard as well as the Champions League defeat to Spanish La Liga giants Valencia thus making it four games without a victory at Stamford Bridge.

It was a comprehensive victory for Chelsea over Grimsby Town and the Carabao Cup game witnessed the scoring return of both Callum Hudson-Odoi and Recce James.

The two players made their return from respective injuries during the Grimsby Town and they ended up getting on the scoresheet.

Apart from winger Callum Hudson-Odoi and right-back Reece James, Michy Batshuayi (2), Pedro Rodriguez (penalty), Ross Barkley and Kurt Zouma were all on the scoresheet as Chelsea booked their place in the next round.

Chelsea will face top four rivals Manchester United at home in the fourth round of the competition.
