Chelsea winger Willian has spoken about the penalty incident that overshadowed the Champions League game with Valencia on Tuesday night.
The Blues played hosts to Spanish La Liga club Valencia in a Group H clash in the Champions League on Tuesday night and the game was thrown into controversy towards the end of the game when Chelsea were awarded a penalty.
England international Ross Barkley stepped up to take the penalty awarded via the VAR Technology only for him to face some sort of resistance from Chelsea teammates Jorginho and Willian.
Ross Barkley insisted on taking the penalty but he was unable to deliver a win as his 87th-minute spot-kick struck the post to condemn Chelsea to a home defeat on their return to the Champions League.
Chelsea lost the Valencia game by a lone goal thanks to the 74th-minute strike from Rodrigo Moreno who profited from a Dani Parejo assist.
The Blues were making a return to the Champions League stage after spending last season in the Europa League.
After the game, Willian told reporters that he asked to take the penalty and that Ross Barkley was confident about taking the said spot-kick.
Chelsea manager Frank Lampard has already confirmed that Ross Barkley is the designated penalty taker for his team.
